Tecmo Come Out Fighting – Smack Down Itagaki

Tecmo have released a statement following Tomonobu Itagaki’s departure and very public smack down yesterday. And by jove, it’s getting ugly.
Apart from stating the obvious – that getting sued by an employee is a “huge problem” – the statement refutes Itagaki’s claims regarding unpaid bonuses. Instead it alleges that the monies he is claiming were promised by the previous administration, and are outside the company’s standard bonus structure – which he has been paid in full.
The statement also slams the damages he is after from CEO Yoshimi Yasuda – who rather ironically told Itagaki to quit or sue the company in the first place – as a result of his own “distortion” and moreover condemns Itagaki’s portrayal as being the only member to have any influence over the development of Team Ninja titles.
Seems like Tecmo wouldn’t shy away from making Dead or Alive 5 without Itagaki after all.

Whichever CEO promised it.. would it have been so hard to just pay the man what he was promised? Really? As much as he’s done for Tecmo…
