Civilization IV: Colonization Scheduled for Fall

It’s a given that if a game comes out with the word Civilization in the title and the name Sid Meier attached to it, turn-based strategy fans will snap it up like razor blades at an emo convention.
Well, get ready to lose another several months of sleep from “just one more turn”, as 2K Games announced that Civilization IV: Colonization is scheduled to arrive this fall for the PC. Colonization is actually a re-imagining of the 1994 game of the same name and will use the Civilization IV engine. Although the game has “Civilization IV” in the title, Colonization is not an expansion pack of that game.
Apparently, the decision to modernize Colonization is a response to fans of the classic game. “We’ve received many requests from fans over the years to bring back Colonization and now seemed to be the perfect time to do that,” said Meier. “The Civilization IV engine provided a fantastic foundation for a new Colonization experience and allowed us to create something great for both new players and long time fans of the game.”

In Colonization, you play as one of four European nations on a mission to conquer the New World. Challenges include guiding your people from your oppressive motherland, discovering the New World, and negotiating with the natives and other nations. It’s unknown whether or not “negotiations” include giving the natives smallpox-infected blankets.
