New Wario Land Shaking Up The Wii

A few new details and scans have popped up for the new Wario Land game coming out for the Wii.
Subtitled “The Shake Dimension”, the game will be a 2D plaformer and from the scans, it looks like the game will use a different art style with hand-drawn backgrounds and cel-shaded characters. Seems kind of weird and I’m not totally sure how that works, but from what I can tell the in the scans, the game looks good.
The game will clearly incorporate the shaking of the Wii remote (hence the subtitle) to make Wario shake enemies for coins and to reveal locations. The game will include 20 levels spanning across the jungle, desert, arctic and ocean, just to name a few.
Additionally, the game will feature fully-voiced animated cutscenes, which is a pretty big surprise to me, since Mario games have never really done anything like that before.
As a huge fan of the Wario Land series, I’m pretty excited for a new 2D Wario game, especially because it’s coming out on the Wii and not on the DS. And by no means am I dissing the DS, but a Wario game that uses the Wii remote to shake the crap out of your enemies sounds awesome to me.
Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is being made by Ganbare Goemon, which split from Konami. A release date has yet to be confirmed, but should be announced sometime soon.
