“NicoNico” for Mega Man 9 Footage
GoNintendo posted a video featuring footage from the upcoming Mega Man 9 WiiWare title. While I’m psyched that Mega Man is going allllllll the way back to his retro roots — graphics, sound, and all — what I personally find interesting about this video is the fact that it seems to be lifted from NicoNico Douga (“Smile Video”), a Japanese video sharing website recently profiled in Wired magazine that lets users comment over the top of the clips in real time. So you see all that scrolling white text? Those were people all watching the movie and saying things like:
“What??”
“YESSSSSSSSSSS”
“Ahhhhh!”
“It’s coming out for Wii.”
“Looks like Famicom.”
“Let’s buy a Wii!”
“A numbered title!”
“Rockman 9″ is scheduled for release in Japan this September. Hopefully Mega Man will appear soon after…
