Activision Announces New Wii Specific Games – Dubbed “Wee 1st”.

Jumping on the Nintendo bandwagon and likely hoping to cash in on some of the consumer craze that is the Wii, Activision has announced they’re developing a brand of games designed just for Nintendo’s platform.

And for some reason they’ve dubbed them Wee 1st.

The first games announced follow the Wii tradition of giving people really simple sounding games that take advantage of the motion sensitive controls, with such revolutionary titles as Little League World Series 2008, Rapala Fishing Frenzy, and Dancing With the Stars: Get Your Dance On.

Surely, we have entered a new age in Wii games.

Wait. We haven’t? It’s just more of the same? Well, the games themselves are irrelevant anyway. What’s important here is the brand: Wee 1st. (Notice its not Wii 1st.)

But what does Wee 1st mean? Come along for a journey into the realm of speculation.

Wee 1st means the games are going to be so engrossing, so addicting, so crack-like that you will not be able to pull yourself away for days at a time. So, in order to avoid any forced breaks in Dance Marathon with has-been celebrities, you should go to the bathroom before you play. Hence, Wee first.

Or, it could mean that these games are specifically tailored to young people; wee little lads and lasses who want to live the excitement of the Little League World Series, but lack the coordination, athletic ability, or overbearing parents fulfilling their own dreams through them to make it to that level of baseball greatness.

A third possibility is that these games are geared toward the vertically challenged. Little people. Midgets. Like Wee-man. Little people who have difficulty fishing, because big fish can eat them. Thus, Rapala is giving them a chance to live the dream of fishing, without the fear of ending up being dragged to the bottom of a river bed by a large fish, only to discover an ancient, evil, sentient piece of jewelry (like a bracelet or something) that will cause them to be murdered by friends in a jealous fit for such a precious item.

It’s a fear I’m sure many deal with on a daily basis, and we can thank Activision for having the foresight to let beleaguered little fishermen have their chance at the big one in the safety and comfort of their own hole – err, home.
