If you liked the SAW movies, then you may want to hang around for the debut of EA’s new Dead Space trailer titled “Loved Ones” on Spike’s GameTrailers TV tonight at 1:00 am.

According to EA’s press release (available in full after the jump) the trailer was directed by James Wan — the director of the original SAW movie. Here’s to hoping the little bicycle riding puppet makes a guest appearance.

EA UNVEILS “LOVED ONES”, A DEAD SPACE TRAILER, CREATED BY MASTER OF HORROR JAMES WAN

Renowned Horror Director James Wan Uses Dead Space Footage to Create

A Thrilling Cinematic Trailer

Redwood City, CA – July 11, 2008 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS), announced today the launch of “Loved Ones” for Dead Space™, a new trailer directed by master of horror James Wan, Director of the SAW franchise. EA’s new survival horror game, the bold and often bloody Dead Space™ promises to deliver the ultimate in psychological terror and gruesome cinematic action.

Five hundred years in the future, humanity has exhausted much of the Earth’s natural resources, and competition for survival is tight. In response, Earth’s mega-corporations send immense mining ships called “Planetcrackers” into deep space to mine planets on a global scale – they rip the planet apart, smelt it down and then bring all the material back to Earth.

When all contact is lost with the most famous Planetcracker, the USG Ishimura, Isaac Clarke and a small repair team are dispatched to restore communications. Isaac is a normal systems engineer, but what he and his team find upon arrival at the Ishimura is anything but normal. The ship is nearly lifeless and powerless. The crew has been horribly slaughtered and transformed into terrifying abominations. Now Isaac is cut off, trapped, and overwhelmed in a desperate fight to survive.

“Being a massive fan of space horror stories, I leapt at the opportunity to help out on Dead Space”, stated horror Director James Wan. “When I saw the early development stages of the game, I was blown away by the cinematic visuals and the philosophy behind the story. I knew I had to be involved in this project in whatever capacity. It was a new but fantastic experience working with the Dead Space creators. My imagination was so fired up that I approached the trailer like I was crafting a suspenseful, short movie.”

“We wanted to create a trailer that showcased the horror and terror that awaits players in Dead Space, so of course we turned to someone who is a master at delivering those emotions,” said Glen Schofield, Executive Producer for Dead Space. “It was incredible working with James on this project. His insight into the horror genre and experience as a Hollywood Director led to the creation of “Loved Ones” This trailer will definitely ensure that viewers will want to play Dead Space with the lights on.”

Check out “Loved Ones” on Spike’s GameTrailers TV, Friday July 11th at 1:00am!
