RE5 Gets Online Co-op and Date

Next zombie pandemic set for release on 13 March 2009 in the US and Europe. It’s a Friday no less. The ad team must have wet themselves coming up with that. We hope it’s worth the wait for the online co-op we have just seen.
It probably is. Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi was on hand to give a quick demo from the RE4 lookalike. From our live blog:
Gasp! Online co-op for RE5! Chris and Sheva do a tandem leap across a broken bridge, much like the Leon/Ashley cooperation in RE4. Also, it seems you can change weapons without going to the menu screen. Chris is now sniping with a bolt rifle. Sheva is using an AK. Items appear when enemies fall, just like RE4, complete with colorful light to indicate what they are. One of the African zombies is wielding a massive wrench. Sheva shoots a lock so Chris can go through.
Japan is once again getting special treatment – they get it a day earlier. Solely on the basis of superstition it seems.
