Its time for Heroes and Villains to unite.
NCsoft, makers of the City of Heroes and City of Villains, just announced that the games worlds will be merging, allowing players greater access to all the features of both games.
The press release stated that all subscribers who owned one of the games will now be able to use all the features from both games without having to purchase the other.
NCsoft has taken down the barrier where players had to have a City of Villains serial code to make a villain, and vice versa. Now, it doesn’t matter if you bought Heroes or Villains, you can make characters from either faction and experience their unique game content. Additionally, Heroes now have access to base building, which was previously only available if you had purchased City of Villains.
But what’s more intriguing is NCsoft’s not-so-subtle hint that this move is setting up for something new.
“In setting the stage for our upcoming plans for the IP, we felt the time was right to truly consolidate the City of Heroes and City of Villains universe. We have removed all restrictions that were created when City of Villains launched in order to make way for some really cool content and features we have in the pipeline. This is an evolution of the IP that lays the foundation for what’s to come,” said Brian Clayton, General Manager and Executive Producer.
O.K., so they mention this new development in the IP like 5 times in the press release. So something big is in the works. Something important. Something… SUPER.

In the mean time, players can experience more of the Heroes/Villians content for half the cost. So, Hero or Villain, everyone wins.
