Acclaim Chief Creative Officer Has Some Harsh Words for E3 “Media & Business Summit”

*Not an actual Dave Perry quote.
Most people seem to agree that this year’s E3 was a bit of a let-down. You can check out any of our press conference coverage (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) and you’ll see that there wasn’t a whole lot to get excited about. Well, it looks like we’re not the only ones complaining about the lackluster event.
David Perry, current Chief Creative Officer at Acclaim, recently let loose some pretty scathing comments.
“The concept is broken, it’s expensive, messages are diluted, consumers are ignored (remembering that the future of this industry is direct connections with consumers – not retailers), the ticket policies are stupid, and if the entire industry worldwide doesn’t participate, it’s not real anyway.”
He also called E3 an embarrassment and said that if they’re aren’t dramatic changes made to the format and the staff, he’s never going again.
He then went on to praise the Game Developers Conference and said investors should go there “if they want to see the talent, passion, and energy this industry has.”
