Media Molecule Miffed By David Reeves “Itunes Meets Ebay” LBP Comment

Media Molecule, developers of the upcoming LittleBigPlanet game, apparently receiving “not-so-nice” emails from fans who read the comments David Reeves (President of SCEE) made to PS3fanboy, stating that LBP would “eventually” allow community content creators to charge other gamers for the content they create.

MM responded calling the comments “hot air” and stating that it was “merely a case of ye-olde-internet-crossed wires”. Below is the post directly from the dev’s official blog.

Amidst all the madness on the way home, we were rather shocked to find a pile of nastygrams awaiting us. What could this mean? Did sackboy go out and throw up on someone’s new suede shoes? Ah no, it was merely a case of ye-olde-internet-crossed wires. Fear not, ye peeps of the intertubes, see here for calming balm: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=200029

but of course you’d much rather read something like this and not worry about all of that hot air…

indeed, just take a dip into any other of the articles libipl.net has been collecting, bless them. Right? Lovely. Tea. Drink it. Yummy.

So, you decide. Is this a pissed off developer doing their best to damage control to a truthful leak of information that came too soon, or is this just another case of an misinformed suit opening his LittleBigMouth?

Am I the only one that thinks Little Big Planet looks like a huge boring waste of time? I read the Official Playstation The Official Magazine article about the game and it just looks like it’s going to be a lame platformer. I mean, I’m sure some people enjoy that, otherwise they wouldn’t be making more Banjoo Kazowiies or Richet and Klunks, but I don’t think it’s worth all the attention it has been getting.

Though with the ability to use the EyeToy and stuff to add in your own pictures to the levels, I do look forward to plenty of boobs, butts, and vaginas adorning a solid portion of the user created maps. I mean, look what people did with Spore already, imagine if you could just snap a picture off your Playboy or Penthouse or what-have-you and have these stupid ragdolls jumping and swinging around a huge pair of knockers… wait a minute, suddenly this game sounds AWESOME!

They’ve answered this question quite a lot – there is a rating a reporting facility in place to stop that from happening.

Plus, may I forward you to our hands on preview? http://www.ripten.com/2008/07/19/e3-08-hands-on-preview-littlebigplanet/

It’s certainly not a boring waste of time, but if it’s not your type of game then fair enough. That doesn’t mean it’s a crap game. Some people think GTA is a boring waste of time, or WOW, or Halo, or Final Fantasy.

Play, CREATE, Share. Far from boring for those who find the game attractive.
