Even PS3 Owners Rate Xbox Live Best

by Dan Landis on July 25, 2008 at 7:19 pm

In a recent opinion poll, 74.7% of the PlayStation 3 owners surveyed considered Xbox Live to be the online service with the best feature set when compared to PlayStation Network and WiiConnect24.  In addition, 71.4% of the people that actually own an Xbox 360 feel as though Xbox Live is worth the subscription fee.

Possibly even more intriguing is the fact that of the people that owned all three consoles, meaning they had the option of playing multiplatform games online for free, 63% still found Xbox Live to be worth the price. Another statistic that I found particularly interesting is that an in-game XMB is the feature most wanted on PSN, even more so than Home, Trophies, and further PSP integration.

The survey was conducted by Game Informer and printed in their August 2008 issue.

I want a recount because I think this poll was fixed. I don’t see one thing on Xbox Live that would get me to buy a 360. Of course, I refuse to waste my money on a console that will burn my place down or spend months in the shop for repairs.

I don’t see how this poll can be accurate considering anyone can claim that they have either a ps3 or 360 and vote for w/e they want.

Lol fanboy. I have all 3 consoles and I LOVE my 360. Just playing Halo has me occupied. Microsoft outdid themselves with achievements.

I own both systems, and xbox live is ok, I prefer the PS3 though. and their on-line is getting better and better. the Xbox is only there for exclusives. I won’t take a chance on getting a multi-platform game for the 360, I am on my second replacement and I will probably send the Xbox down the road eventually.

In my opinion I do believe that Xbox live is better. Im a PS3 owner, but the only 2 thing i want from the xbox is its Live and its Exclusives. The,gamer points and your overall gamer score. Your Reputation score, the way the Dashboard is laid out is good, the XMB is still good in a way but its boring but it is simple. I like the fact to the best of my knowledge all games support in game music and it pauses automatically everytime you reach a clip scene and resumes after it, game invites, join your friend access MSN on your xbox 360, Be on multiple accounts at the same time and if your playing together your gamer points save to your own profile as well, In game chat in two seperate games. Sony should implement all these features, Microsoft had them all from the start so it was a requirement for game developers but Playstation hasnt and barley anything is implimented and the developers dont want to add trophies or in game music because theyv all ready made the game. The Layout is good, they have a small Bio for your information about you. The fact that you can avoid a player or play with em again, you can report them easy. The stores all good as well with movies and games and demos. Sony should have implemented all these things from the start.Next gen they should kick ass with the hardware and features but they should also take a leaf out of xboxs book, make it a requirement for trophies and in game music, in game web and all the other xbox features above. They should have already had the playstation store set out with Retro games(PS2/PS1)section a (PSP) a Movie/TV section and a Music section. Bursting with content. They need to do this next round and they need a tonne of Amazing triple A games that are exclusive to PS3.

Xbox live is simply the best. PS3 is behind and Wii is… uh.. lost somewhere, chewing on it’s own foot.

Sony has a LOT of catching up to do, especially after we get netflix integration and the party system.

I will say however PS3 should never charge for any of there services they do a better job than Xbox and if they can implement all those features and keep it free then live better pull up its socks

Only thing an xbox 360 is good for, besides being sent back to get fixed, is modding for free games.

Yeah if they could do everything Live does for free then yeah.. they’d really have something.

It seems that they need to start spending a LOT more effort and money on this though, because almost as soon as they get in-game XMB the 360 gets a totally redone dashboard, avatars, full disc installs, netflix integration… etc.. etc.. They seem to be 3 or 4 steps behind at all times.

I don’t buy this. The only thing 360 Live does better is achievements, voice chat, and especially the store. But playing online is the same or even worse, since 360 doesn’t have servers for online play, only for storing accounts and statistics.

    I call it bullshit.
