Comic-Con 08: Gears 2 Linking Achievements With Gears 1

As one would imagine, Gears of Wars 2 has a pretty strong presence at Comic-Con 2008. Aside from talking about the upcoming film adaptation, Cliff Bleszinski also discussed a few things about the game, one of which being the inclusion of “linked achievements.”
The way linked achievements will work is that if a player has certain achievements from the first Gears of War unlocked, the player will receive special rewards in Gears 2. Scroll down for a few examples, but keep in mind that these could be considered spoilers.
You’ve been warned!
- Completion of Act One in Gears 1 unlocks a playable Anthony Carmine in Gears 2
- Gathering 10 COG tags in Gears 1 unlocks Minh Young Kim in Gears 2
- Killing Raam in Gears 1 unlocks a playable Raam in Gears 2
Those three were the only ones revealed, but I would assume that there will be more. I think it’s a cool idea and hats off to the Epic crew for being innovative.

If you get all 1250 points from Gears 1, you should get Gears 2 for free and then have the AI beat the game for you while you just relax and eat some chips.
