New Wolfenstein Game Revealed At Quake Con

This week at Quake Con, id Software unveiled their new Wolfenstein shooter for the PC, PS3, and 360, simply titled “Wolfenstein”. We have the first released screenshots and trailer, for your Nazi-smiting pleasure, after the jump.
First up is the revelatory trailer. This thing has so many swastikas in the first half that I thought it might be a colorized version of Triumph of the Will. Fortunately, we get to watch a ton of bad guys get zapped into cinders by a new gun in the second half.
So now do you think you’ve got room for just one more World War 2 shooter? My personal belief is that you can always improve the genre, and adding a big freaking laser gun is definitely an improvement.
Wolfenstein also seems to have something called the “reality shroud”, which appears to be a version of the light/dark world mechanic seen in other games (Zelda comes to mind). You can check out the particle cannon and reality shroud, plus some of the more conventional WW2 shooting, in the gallery screens below.
