PS3 “Left 4 Dead” After All
by Dylan Duarte on August 4, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Yesterday we reported that Left 4 Dead may be coming to the PlayStation 3 after all, coutesy of Electronic Arts. Now, unfortunately, it looks like that isn’t true. Hit the jump if you want your dreams crushed and eaten by zombies.
IGN, in an attempt to get to the bottom of the matter, contacted Valve’s Doug Lombardi. Lombardi’s response was crystal clear.
“There is no PS3 version of Left 4 Dead currently in production.”
Well, shit.
But do not despair. Ripten head honcho Chad Lakkis has his own explanation of why you shouldn’t give up hope. Here are his words, ripped from Google Talk, verbatim.
it appears it is not “currently in production”
maybe it’s because IGN contacted him on Saturday
and the shop was closed
so technically
it want in production when they called
AHAH!
sneaky
corporate talk is bery bery sneaky
Afterthought: So what do you think? Do you think Chad cracked the case? Or is he chasing ghosts? Zombies?

*shrug* Perhaps it’ll get a port after the 360 version is done. Won’t break my heart either way.

I thought Valve hated PS3.. I’d be surprised if this came to the system or at least if Valve themselves did the port.

When I think of the Way Valve has acted towards the PS3 and how they have admitted to not liking it and then the way Valve & EA treated Half Life the Orange Box where neither will patch whatever the Hell is wrong with it. Hell I don’t even own Half life on the PS3. I would rather not see a port of Left for Dead on the PS3. As they will probably do a Half Assed job on it and then if there are problems & won’t support it and put the blame on EA or who ever they would get to port it.
The point here is if you aren’t going to take responsibility and make sure that YOUR IP GETS TAKEN CARE OF properly and make sure if there are any problems somebody fixes it then don’t bother bringing your games to the PS3!!!

You should be playing it on the PC anyway.
I don’t think that anyone should be getting excited about this, because of EA’s inclusion.

How many times are people going to fall for the “no plans as of yet” malarkey? I mean, Epic stated that there were no plans to bring Gears of War to the PC right up to the day that they officially announced that they were releasing it on the PC*! You hear it time and again and it basically means that they’re not ready to make an announcement yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game is coming to the PS3 at some point, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up either, at least not for a simultaneous release date or anything.
*This statement may or not be actual fact, but could just be a perception based on the way things were perceived at the time they were witnessed and we all know, thanks to the ghost of Ben Kenobi, that things are different depending on your point of view… but I think you get my point. of view
