While I didn't play the original, I used friends and reviews (of the original) as the benchmark as to how highly regarded it was. It was generally pretty high. As to whether or not a person qualifies to review something is an age old argument of that'll never end. But, should my opinion really be discarded just because I wasn't old enough to read when the original came out? Part of my review was researching the the original game upon which it was based on.
