Pong > Barack Obama

by Justin Arnold on August 7, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Someone is going to need an Xbox 360 on Air Force One.

In a particularly hard-hitting interview with presidential candidate Barack Obama, Entertainment Weekly asked the presumptive democratic nominee what was the last videogame he played.

“Pong … That should give you a sense of my age. I loved that game.”

Other similarly in-depth questions ranged through the gamut of presidential politics such as spousal remote control rights and what’s currently on his iPod.

Don’t ask.

When the same pop-culture questions were put to the presumptive republican presidential nominee John McCain there was no mention of videogames whatsoever. Probably because the closest he as ever got to a Nintendo DS is a sock puppet.

In a *conference call with the two presidential candidates regarding their videogame play, Obama and McCain were unusually candid with their level of experience.

Obama: The last game I played was pong.

McCain: Pong? What, you some kinda communist? You and pong and Charlie!

Obama: CHANGE!

McCain: AGE!

Obama: Have you ever even played a video game? Or, you know, seen one?

McCain: What is this ‘vider gamm’ you keep talking about? Sounds like an East German stew.

Obama: That’s because the closest you ever got to a home entertainment system was making shadow puppets from the light of the fire. In your cave. Where you still live.

McCain: That’s to promote my rugged, masculine image.

Obama: This from a guy who still eats slabs of bison meat and wears bear pelts.

*Please note that this highly-accurate transcript of a conference call that never happened is for entertainment purposes only. Many thanks to fellow Ripten colleague Mr. Wade Larson who aided in the engagement of the aforementioned awesome.

I’ll post what I posted on Dtoid (I made it!)

But where do they stand on the important issues, like which system has better online capabilities? Is the wii a silly gimmick? Would you support a Final Fantasy VII remake?

Neither candidate has answers. I’m voting for the Master Chief. He’ll win the war on terror by himself.

Sorry, Green. I updated your comment to make it a link. We don’t have the ability to post images just yet.

Thanks. I would have changed it myself, but there’s no edit button either!
