Do most people care about a gaming mouse? Probably not. Would most people be interested in reading about this? Probably not. Either way, “high-performance” gaming hardware-makers NZXT have just today unleashed the Avatar gaming mouse fact sheet on my inbox. Designed to provide “smooth fragging and accurate sniping” with an adjustable four-speed DPI switch, the Avatar may be the next best thing to diazepam and a bottle of Jolt Cola.
Sounds impressive, but how well does it really work in practice? We’ll find out… because that’s what we do. It’ll probably show up in a week, and I’ll tell you whether it’s worth the fluff or if it sucks digital dick. Read on for the full specs.
From the fact sheet:
- Optimal performance – 2600 DPI Optical Sensor provides maximum sensitivity and responsiveness which yields unparalleled gaming accuracy. LED DPI indicator gives the user improved usage and feedback. 5.8 Mega Pixels/second with a max frame rate of 6469 ensures smooth fragging and accurate sniping. 4 Speed DPI switch enables you to go from slow sniper movement to quick attack movement in a matter of seconds.
- Maximum Customization – 7 programmable keys allows gamers to customize their configuration specifically for First-Person Shooters, Real-Time Strategy, or Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games all within the macro and profile settings.
- Ergonomic Design – Ambidextrous design gives full use to both right and left handed gamers. Rubber grip helps avoid slipping during intense gameplay and the small, light form factor allows for faster and quicker movements.
- Simple Installation – Avatar plugs into any available USB port.

so sexy…

YWow, you guys are shameless. This kind of ’stealth’ advertising is pathetic, and frankly insulting. I don’t think many people visit a games site to be feed the company line on a gaming mouse.
You may as well have just told us to go buy it from the website (which you’ve helpfully linked) so you’ll get your slither of the sale.
This site has really gone downhill recently.

What he said ^
Also, gaming with a mouse? lawl

Wha? I wasn’t talking about the mouse…I was talking about Dan. Sheesh.

Allow me to dismantle your argument:
Every press release is the “company line”. I have yet to try the thing out so I can’t give you my opinion of it. It clearly says “From the fact sheet”. I don’t know what other information I could give you other than to inform you about the item. Should we stop giving you information about gaming-related things? Is that what you want?
You can go to the website if you want to but they don’t sell this mouse on their website, so congratulations on your baseless accusation that I’m trying to drive sales. Almost every single post on Ripten links to a company or source website, so I don’t know why you think this is so different.
Maybe you don’t know how the blogging universe works, but I damn sure am not going to see any dollars for any of these things that get sold, especially since, as I already said, they don’t even sell this thing from their website.
I apologize if I thought that some gamers would actually care about a gaming mouse. Believe it or not, most people browse the interwebs on a PC, and they generally use a mouse and keyboard to do it. You are probably using a mouse right now. You don’t have to give a shit about a gaming mouse — I really don’t care either way. Please don’t insult my integrity and your own intelligence by leaving stupid comments like these. Put your e-peen away, and don’t make Dan Landis have to choke a bitch.
And DavidGX: More hours are spent gaming on PC’s than on consoles, so “gaming with a mouse” is sooo super “lawl”, right?

This was a hilarious comment, but because it was based off of a comment that was edited, it no longer makes any sense and has now also been edited. For shame!
