Thieves Steal a Truckload of Games… Twice
by Dan Landis on September 30, 2008

In a story that I’m sure is incredibly embarrassing for the police forces of England, a semi carrying approximately $1 million in PlayStation 3 videogames (including GTA and Brothers in Arms) was stolen by a merry band of thieves. The truck and its cargo were then recovered by police, who failed to capture the men responsible, which led to the same merry band of thieves stealing the same truck full of games from the custody of the police themselves! Pwn Or Die’s All Your Base Election Mix
by Dylan Duarte on September 30, 2008

The folks over at Pwn or Die have put together a pretty hilarious edit of the classic All Your Base video, calling it the Presidential Election Edition. As someone who is absolutely scared shitless at the prospect of Sarah Palin anywhere close to the White House, this video really hit close to home for me. Check it out after the break. Read more…

Included in said update will be the ability to enter in cheat codes to unlock weapons and other types of goodies, as well as six new playable characters, and cross regional multiplayer support.

Ebay Auction: Be a Big Daddy this Halloween (Little Sister Sold Separately)
by Wade Larson on September 30, 2008

Can’t decide on what video game character to dress up as this Halloween? Sick of wearing the same blue suspenders and red hat every year? Have you ever wanted to have a large, Styrofoam drill for an arm? Do you live in the New Jersey area?
If you answered yes to these questions, this man has a suit to sell you. This fancy, homemade Big Daddy costume can be yours for only $250. The drill arm does work, provided you stick a power drill in there, and you can string some Christmas lights up in the face mask for that extra “friendly” or “your death is imminent” effect. Make it a family affair and bring your little sister along for an added bonus. Just hand her a giant syringe and a dirty, 50s throw-back dress and you finally found a good use for the little brat!

While it is a refuge from last year’s festivities, don’t worry about appearing out-of-date. Just tell people you’re the PS3 version of the Big Daddy, and this costume’s relevancy gets an extra year, and you don’t have to worry about gluing on that fake, Italian mustache ever again.
Until 2009. Video of the suit in action after the jump. Read more…
Gears 2 Launches with Five Free Gears 1 Maps via DLC Available with New Purchases Only
by Chad Lakkis on September 30, 2008

To quote Cole Train (my favorite Gears character) “Who loves ya, baby?” The answer — CliffyB loves you baby. And to prove it, he is apparently giving Gears fans five original Gears 1 maps in Gears 2. The list, according to the latest issue of GamePro magazine, includes Gridlock, Subway, Canals, Mansion (my hands down favorite), and Tyro Station.
To get your hands on this release date DLC for free you will need to turn in the voucher code included with each new purchase of Gears 2.

Ripten Radio Presents: Ripcast Episode 1
by Roly Reyes on September 30, 2008

After a month of hard work behind-the-scenes we’re proud to present you the inaugural episode of the Ripcast, this is the start of a very wild ride.
Join John Kershaw, Roly Reyes, Beau Rosser, and Jonathan Zungre as they tell you about their Playlist’s for the week, which include: Crysis: Warhead, Mercenaries 2, Pure, Rock Band (both of them, Rock Bands?), Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Followed by philosophical waxing with Soulja Boy about the merits of Braid, Mass Effect and BioShock films, Spawnpoint Studios job listings, and the mish-mash of Halo games that may or may not be in development.
Due to technical difficulties, this was posted a little late, looking forward you should expect them earlier in the week provided there are no screwups. We’re still working on the logistics of everything, and I’ll keep you posted when I’ve wrangled this group of assholes into a steady schedule.
All music has been provided by the unbearably awesome Anamanaguchi. Have their babies. Seriously. Hit the jump for Episode 1. Read more…
Rock Out With Your Sock Out: Blood Sugar Sex Magik DLC Hits XBL for Rock Band 2
by Chad Lakkis on September 30, 2008

If you grew up listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers like I did, then the headline will make sense to you — if not, here you go.
Rock Band 2 owners will be able to power up their Xbox 360 and download the entire Blood Sugar Sex Magik DLC for 1,600MS Points from XBL. In other words — what XBL got “you got to get it put it in you.” Yeah, I know that song isn’t from BSSM, but I wanted to say it anyway.
So many great tracks in this one album like “Breaking the Girl”, “Under the Bridge”, and a favorite of one of my ex girlfriend’s, “Sir Psycho Sexy”. I wonder if she was trying to tell me something…

EA Sports Gets NFLPA Bargain On Retired NFL Player Rights, Players Seek Help From Madden
by Chad Lakkis on September 30, 2008

You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Behind the scenes wheeling and dealing can generate tasty bargains, but sometimes those bargains come with a nasty aftertaste.
In this case, it appears that EA and the NFLPA along with Players Inc. struck a deal for retired NFL player rights that was significantly below fair market value. A class action lawsuit was filed by the players in question against Players Inc, but the fun didn’t stop there. In a letter crafted by 51 year old former Buffalo Bills safety, Jeff Nixon, Madden was asked to come to the aid of his fellow Hall of Famers.
Jeff’s “Dear John” letter to the former Raider’s Head Coach is laced with incriminating quotes, the most shocking being that EA’s total cost to produce Madden each year is apparently no more than $200,000!! Read more…
XBLA Review: Double D Dodgeball
by Jonathan Zungre on September 29, 2008

Double D Dodgeball is a game that attempts to capture the fun of dodgeball with the style of neo-retro arcade gaming. But is getting hit in the face by aliens really more fun than getting hit in the face by jocks? Read more…

Supposedly inspired by Metal Gear Solid 4, the Silver Wolf Full Metal Rubber Band Gun features a laser sight, flashlight, and semi-automatically fires off ten rounds(?) of rubberbandiness. LittleBigPlanet Beta Code Blowout!
by Sam Naylor on September 28, 2008

The Playstation Blog reports that thousands of new LittleBigPlanet beta codes will be hitting the web soon. IGN, 1up, and GameTrailers will all be receiving the codes for their users, as well as The Official LBP Blog. If the fiasco with Eurogamer is anything to go by, expect it to be difficult to get hold of one, even with the thousands of them floating about.
The LBP Blog has a sneaky post referring to Monday, which likely means that if you’re looking for a code, you will need to be around then. If you’ve got a beta code already, or if you get one from one of these sites, let us know how it’s going in LBP land!
Spore-Created Starcraft Replicas Amaze
by Keane Ng on September 26, 2008

They say that if you give a man fish they’ll eat for a day, but if you teach a man to fish they’ll eat for a lifetime. Well, give a Korean a game other than Starcraft and they’ll play it for a day, but if you give them Spore they’ll turn it into Starcraft. That’s what happened here. Some intrepid fellow was so frustrated by Spore’s shallow as heck RTS gameplay that he had to make it look as much like Starcraft as possible to even keep playing it. And he succeeded – look at those Siege Tanks!

How Bill Murray Got His Groove Back
by Keane Ng on September 26, 2008

If Dr. Peter Venkman is in Ghostbusters III (which is supposedly being penned by scribes from The Office), we’ll have one thing to thank: the Ghostbusters game. Bill Murray, who has previously been notoriously on the fence about a third Ghostbusters flick, has apparently down an about face and says he’s totally down with GBIII, and it’s all thanks to the Ghostbusters game. Gears 2 Playable During Game U Tour Across 20 College Campuses Starting Next Week
by Chad Lakkis on September 26, 2008

If you want to play Gears of War 2 before the games official release date, and you happen to be near one of the twenty major college campuses outlined after the jump, then Best Buy and friends have just the thing for you.
Starting next week, the “Game U College Tour” will be making its way around the country giving gamers the chance to go head to head in a Gears of War 2 Wingman Challenge.
The tour is free of charge to the general public, but as I typed up the tour schedule, it became clear that the furthest east this tour will be hitting is Michigan. So if you live any further east than that, you are out of luck. Apparently PSU isn’t a “major college campus”.
Full press release as well as tour information available after the jump. Read more…
