PAX Panels You Can Hear From Home
by Roly Reyes on September 2, 2008 at 10:45 pm

Unlike John Kershaw and Wade Larson, most of us did not have the good fortune of attending this year’s PAX. Luckily, the collective internet is there for us. 1UP, Giant Bomb and Wired’s Game|Life blog all posted their panels online for your PAX-less viewing pleasure.
1UP’s flagship podcast 1UP Yours held a live podcast of all the usual suspects: Garnett Lee, Shane Bettenhausen, and John Davison, as well as a smorgasbord of guests from a bevy of different outlets. The show was released to listeners, but to put it nicely, the audio was jacked. Thankfully, it’s much clearer in the video release:
Giant Bomb’s panel was more of a reunion of former Gamespotters in good spirits covering a variety of topics in a hilarious fashion, including a certain video that I am particularly fond of. We’ll embed the first of this three-part series, and for the other two be sure to visit Giant Bomb, and add to their wikis while you’re at it.
And finally, Chris Kohler of Wired’s Game|Life blog has posted the first 40 minutes of the “Game Criticism and Old Game Journalism” panel he hosted at PAX. Flanking Kohler was Gus Mastrapa, Karen Chu, and Patrick Klepek. Unfortunately, only the first 40 minutes of the panel were recorded as Kohler was doing the recording himself with his personal recorder. On the bright side, it caught the entirety of the core discussion and cut out just before Q&A. Those 40 minutes are now available in mp3 format.
Maybe those of us who missed this year’s PAX will finally be able to make it in 2010, when it hits Boston. If we missed any, please point them out, I’m sure we’d like to listen to them as much as you would.
