We just got a press release from EA announcing that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is available right now in PC demo format via fileplanet, ign, gamespy, as well as several other sites.
The demo is just a sample of what the full game has to offer in terms of size, but EA hopes that it will wet your appetite for destruction. Full press release available after the jump.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames PC Demo available now!
The Mercenaries 2: World in Flames free PC demo lets players have a playable sneak preview of the final product.
Players can play an objective from one of the missions, and while they are limited to a relatively small section of the world, there’s enough there for players to get a feel for the sandbox nature of the game.
Additionally, we give players a customized load out of awesome vehicles and airstrikes, so that players can get a taste of the toys and destruction that combine to make Mercenaries 2 the premier explosive action game of the summer!
The Mercenaries 2: World in Flames free PC demo will be available www.fileplanet.com, www.ign.com, www.gamespy.com and more.

Downloaded it. Played it. Finished it….. Seriously… WHAT THE HELL? The demo weights 1,6gb and it’s like… 10minutes of gameplay -.- Ok, I admit – the game is somewhere between PRETTY GOOD and DAMN AWESOME. But again, seriously the demo should be longer! I would be satisfied with just one hour… but not 10min. Another thing that’s just plain silly are the bugs. The demo has lots (and I MEAN LOTS) of them. Physics errors, graphic bugs (or should I say “a whole nest of bugs”) and even scripting/event bugs. There this weird one: You enter a building and go upstairs and some enemy soldier’s voice is yelling “BEHIND THE STRUCTURE BEHIND THE BUILDING” all the time. First thing: I’M IN THE BUILDING, NOT BEHIND IT. Second: After hearing “Behind the building!” for over 6 minutes non-stop it gets really annoying. Another weird glitch/bug I’ve found is that sometimes the graphics miscalculate the distance between me and certain parts of the terrain/structures (for example: I stand still about 50meters from a building and sometimes part off the building’s mesh ‘rips out’ and rapidly zoom 20meters towards me. In 2-3 seconds everything is back to normal. I’ve tested it on 3 machines (all are new machines with updated drivers so I don’t suppose it’s a driver/hardware issue) and it happens on every one.
Overall, the demo is great but definitely TOO SHORT. The gameplay is fast-paced yet at the beginning it’s a bit TOO FAST (when you hit START GAME you have about 30seconds to get used to the controls before you get blown away by a near standing soldier with a RPG). Most importantly – they must debug the full version, cause if the demo represents a part of the final product… well let’s just say that for the time being I’m not convinced into buying the full version.
PS. But the game still kicks ass :)
