Xbox Live Stutters Back To Life

After nearly three full days of hit or miss reliability from the Xbox Live service, it’s finally looking like the servers have been successfully gaffer taped back together.
After the planned downtime on Monday to prepare the service for the soccer moms New Xbox Experience, it seems all was not quite smooth gravy with Live. The early signs of trouble came from Halo 3 players complaining that their experience wasn’t going up.
Bungie announced after a few hours of looking into the matter that it wasn’t in fact their fault and the that the problem was “a larger problem with the Xbox Live service that is affecting more games than just Halo 3”
And with that, Xbox Live ground to a halt and went offline again. Only a few hours later it reappeared, but was very hit or miss. Once it had staggering around for a few more hours, the service went offline again earlier today (Wed).
Mid-afternoon today, things seemed to be heading back to normal with MajorNelson’s Twitter announcing:
Things are going to get better VERY soon.
Soon after, Live burst back to life… almost. There are still problems with the Halo 3 ranks, but all other services appear to have been restored. Who knows how long it will last?
I guess the New Xbox Experience was just too much awesome for the servers to handle, with all those sexy avatars and swooshing graphics. I’m just glad I’m not paying for… wait…
