New Nintendo Points Can’t be Shared Between the Wii and DSi
by Rangebar Merani on October 8, 2008 at 12:42 pm

It has been revealed that the new point system Nintendo will be using when the DSi store launches cannot be shared between the upcoming DSi unit and the Wii once the points have been purchased.
Dubbed Nintendo Points, they can be used on either system, but once they have been applied to one, the points cannot be traded or transferred to the other. The reason, Nintendo states, is because the two stores are separate.
Those utilizing the current point system on the Wii will experience a change to the new Nintendo Points system, but the will remain same value. This will no doubt effect the bottom line of spammers who bought up every domain name combination possible for “Wii Points.”
The DSi store will launch in tandem with the new console early next year, allowing DSi owners to buy games through the online service immediately.
