Geeked-Out: Mana Potion Energy Drink

by Dan Landis on October 10, 2008 at 1:31 am

Mana Potion

Combining the gamer need to stay awake with the supposed gamer inability to be a huge fucking dork, Mana Energy Potion is just the kind of shot you need to solidify yourself as an elite member of the takes-it-too-fars.

This is a level of geek that I am afraid to say is just a tad over the line but, at the same time, is super cool in the nerdiest of ways.

I don’t want to ruin the description with my amateur wordsmith skills, so I’ll let the official “About” page speak for itself:

WTF is a Mana Energy Potion?
Mana Energy Potion is the premium energy shot made by gamers for gamers. It’s for long nights of gaming, partying, and the longer mornings that follow. It has lots of vitamins, no sugar, and no aftercrash.

What is it going to do to me?
It will bump up your mana to +160 (real world humans have about 100 mana, by the way). It’s 5-8 hours of smooth, jitter-free energy. When it comes to caffeine content, this potent shot is equivalent to about two 8-ounce Red Bulls® or four cups of crappy office coffee.

How big is a Mana Energy Potion?
It is an energy shot, not an energy drink. The bottle is a 50mL serving which is around the same size as those little bottles of booze served on airplanes. At only 20 calories, it won’t weigh you down while you are casting spells. It will also keep you away from the can as opposed to guzzling the usual barrel of yellow syrup. Don’t let the size fool you- even drinking half a bottle at time is quite effective.

What’s the best way to ingest this stuff?
Straight from the bottle. If you want the energy to ramp up more slowly but still last as long, have a bottle after a meal. Don’t be afraid to only take half a bottle, this is a high-level potion, so you should be careful with it. You can also dilute it (See “What does it taste like?”) Another tip: try it chilled.

What is the Cooldown on a Mana Energy Potion?
While everybody has a different reaction to caffeine and vitamins, your Cooldown will be far more than two minutes. In fact, we highly recommend that you do not drink more than one of these every 24 hours (or 1,440 minutes).

What does it taste like?
It’s a citrusy formula with a bit of a sour bite. Although taste is pretty subjective, our circle of geeks (us included) LOVES the flavor. It has a sour bite that makes you feel like you definately got a dose of energy. If “intense” isn’t your bag, try diluting it with club soda or your favorite juice. We’ve even poured it into our green tea. Yummy.

What exactly is in this?
All sorts of energy-inducing ingredients to keep you questing into the wee hours of the night. Click here to see our Supplement Facts label.

I want it now! How long will the delivery take?
We ship via DHL who then hands it off to your local postal service. The average delivery time is 2-3 days depending on how far you are from CA, but it can take up to a week.

Why does Mana work so much better than the other stuff?
Because we’re awesome.

Are you still shipping glass bottles?
Nope. The glass bottles did what glass does best: break. They broke in transit, broke in stores and broke during the manufacturing process. When they didn’t break, they would often freeze in transit and the seal would leak creating a blue-green syrup that would seep into the box it shipped in. After replacing many, many bottles of Mana, we had a custom mold designed and built to blow food grade, high density PET bottles. The results? Awesome. They look even better, are a fraction of the weight, and won’t break or leak (unless you try very, very hard).

Do you have tracking information for my package?
DHL will send you an email with your tracking information around the time that your package ships. We don’t actually send out that information. Did you check your processed meat folder for the tracking email? If you think you should have gotten something by now, send us an email.

Do you ship to APO /FPO addresses?
Thinkgeek does! DHL told us that they do not ship to APO/FPO addresses, but Thinkgeek will because they’re awesome (and they must use a different shipping system). They sell six-packs of Mana Energy Potion. Read these instructions on addressing and order some Mana Energy Potion for your aircraft carrier. The Badger’s Den can also ship to APO/FPO addresses, AND they sell in different quantities.

OMG I feel like I have a sunburn and my face is red!
There are a couple possibilities here: 1) You were out in the sun too long, and you have a sunburn and 2) you were possibly deficiant in niacin and there was enough in Mana Energy Potion to give you a niacin flush. A niacin flush will cause your skin to turn red. It may get itchy, feel like a sunburn, and be generally unpleasant. In general, it should go away within 15-20 minutes, in some cases it can last a bit longer. Many times, the second time you take a Mana Energy Potion, you will not experience this reaction. Read more about it here.

Is there anything else I should know?
Yes. Most of the statements on the website have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, in fact, all of the statements on this website have not been evaluated by the FDA . That doesn’t mean they’re complete nonsense though. Mana Energy Potion is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Who does your incredible character design?

Sara Forlenza, and she’s awesome. You can see more of her art at www.saraforlenza.com.

You must be a level 16 or higher to use this potion, by that we mean not recommended for mortals under 16.

Use caffeine responsibly. Discard 3 days after opening, no need to refrigerate. Contains enzymes. Phenylketonurics: Contains phenylalanine.

Have something you think we should show on Geeked-Out? Email it to us.

Cool. If I saw one at local merchant / item shop, I would buy one, if for no other reason than curiosity.

And a burning need to max out my stat bars.

I may be a little caffeine-sensitive, but am I the only one who’s stomach starts clenching just at the thought of ingesting all those stimulants? The fact that they recommend drinking no more than one of these in a day should help indicate how bad they are for you.

All that said though, I still want some……
