Tons of people love the hit show DEXTER on Showtime, and coincidentally, the iPhone is not too shabby either. Wait a minute! There’s an idea to be had here … and as usual, someone else beat me to it.

Marc Ecko (man this guy is everywhere) Entertainment and Showtime have joined forces to announce a DEXTER game or the Apple iPhone. Currently in development by Icarus Studios, the game is being coined as an investigative in nature with plenty of puzzle solving aspects.

You will play as Dexter Morgan (duh), a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Dade Police Department. If you’ve ever seen a really bad guy, and thought to yourself “someone should kill him or what he did”, then you’ll love playing our boy Dexter.

See, in addition to being an expert employed by the Miami Police, D-money hunts down bad people, secures them (alive) in a room draped with saran wrap, whips out his buzz saw and … I’m sure you can figure out the rest.

The game gives you the option to choose the “brand of justice” you see fit, which means you can just go through the motions of investigating, analyzing evidence, locating the criminal, and turning him over to the court system — but you can also chop them up into little pieces if your heart so desires. Hmmm, I wonder which route most gamers will go with?

In commenting on the game and the development team bringing it to live, Marc Fernandez, Vice President of Marc Ecko Entertainment, had the following to say:

“I am so excited to have Icarus Studios on board to develop the DEXTER iPhone game … From the second we began this project we wanted to throw everything we had at it, that’s exactly why we wanted Icarus Studios as a partner – a 100 person plus developer focusing their technology on making the DEXTER game the best it can possibly be.”

Like any good studio, Icarus returned the favor by adding:

“We are also extremely pleased to be working with Marc Ecko Entertainment and Showtime on this project.”

Verbal blow jobs aside, I am really hoping this game delivers, because it has the potential to be something great. A popular series with a growing fan base who are quick to dub it the best show on TV, and a device that has turned the entire industry upside down — if they don’t hit a home run with this, I’m gonna bust out my saran wrap! Don’t make me.
