That's because even though he didn't vote for cupcakes with pink frosting, he still has to eat it and isn't allowed to complain.

Okay, using that analogy, you think I should care enough to order something random from the menu, and then that would justify not liking it?

If I simply say "I don't care" because nothing interests me on the menu, of course I can still voice my opinion that what I am served isn't tasty. I need to eat no matter what, but if my choices are only things I don't want to eat, I can simply eat whatever is given to me and not like it. Regardless of whether or not I actually ordered it, bad food is bad food.

If you go into a restaurant and say you don't care about what's on the menu, is it then fair to complain about what you are served?

I completely disagree, but I guess there is no weight behind that opinion since I didn't vote. I think not voting perfectly shows that I don't think the voting system works, while voting, even if it's not for a real candidate, shows that I at least believe in the system, which I don't.

Saying that my opinion on political matters carries no weight because I didn't vote is ridiculous. Am I not allowed to say the people on American Idol suck if I don't vote there either?

If you don't want to vote for any candidate, just spoil your vote. That way your counted, but counted as not wanting to vote.

Not voting basically voids any weight behind nearly all opinions you have regarding anything remotely political. Sorry to say.
