Left 4 Dead Achievement Pokes Fun At Dead Rising

by Chelsea Thompson on October 31, 2008 at 10:05 am

Left 4 Dead surprises me everyday with the amount of sheer awesome that’s being generated by the game’s hype machine. If you kill every zombie in the infected town of Willamete, you get an achievement. Doesn’t sound so bad, right? I mean, when the zombie apocalypse comes around that’s kind of the plan. You know, to kill everyone. Want to know more? Of course you do.

The city of Willamete is not going to go down easy. Remember the Zombie Genocider achievement in Dead Rising? Yeah, it’s just like that. It seems like Valve is trying to one-up Capcom in the zombie apocalypse genre…literally. The Dead Rising Zombie Genocider achievement required you to kill 53,594 of the undead, while Left 4 Dead requires you to take down 53,595 zombies. This is called the “Zombie Genocidest” achievement. I see what you did there, Valve.

This shit just got real.

Yeah, that’s great and all, but Dead Rising is still a much better game.

    Okay, no…
I don’t think that’s how it is, I think Capcom and Valve are secretly working together and making a backdoor sequel to Dead Rising! Willamette, Colorado is the same town in Left 4 Dead, and in one of the endings…well, it’s not really an ending, but if you fail to collect all of Carlito’s bombs in Dead Rising, they’ll blow up and cause a zombification apocolypse, destroying the town of Willamette (and surrounding areas), creating an apocolyptic environment in which Left 4 Dead takes place 2 weeks after the “First Incident”, referring to the first zombie infestation in Dead Rising, in other words, the “Willamette Incident”

Wow thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard! you have to be kidding, dead rising has nothing to do with Left 4 Dead they are not appart of the same game first off the zombies are very diffrent in dead rising they are insects and L4D is unexplained but the zombies do not eat they just beat people down, also if you have played prototype they have an achivment as well for 53596 kills of infected all the games are just trying to out do eachother.
    thats all
