Geeked-Out: Optimus Prime iPod Dock, Transform and Pop N’ Lock Out!

by Sean Mitchuson on November 4, 2008 at 2:40 am

I’m checking out Famitsu this morning and what do I see but an interesting slightly non gaming news article about EXILE and Takaratomi toy company of Japan releasing a collaboration Optimus Prime as they call it.

EXILE X Transformers speakers for iPod are just what they claim to be.   A set of speakers built into Optimus Prime’s trailer that work as a small dock for your iPod.  As you can see by the photo Optimus has taken on a new color scheme for this promotion, but he does transform as always.

It’s on sale now for the low low price of 20,000 yen, or around 200 US dollars (depending on how the exchange rate is going that day).   For the price it looks slightly expensive you get a transforming Optimus, and two two channel speakers with their own power button and volume.

They don’t say what brand the speakers are just that they are in the convey container so don’t expect Bose, I may get one myself.  Then again, I’m one of those people that buys things like this and then never opens them.  I tell myself I’m saving it for its value later in years, which really ends up usually being a waste for me.
