VGChartz still isn't the basis for this list, but I did look at it. I also compared press releases, corporate sites, Famitsu -- all of which I didn't specifically mention either. The main goal was to find the games that sold over a million copies. The exact number is kinda beside the point.

Of course there is info not available to the public. If you read what I say, I claimed that you don't have it.

As for this "I’m not sure why you guys feel like you are busting me on something that I freely admit to using. "

Well, you didn't before people mentioned it, and then you slowly said that you used VGChartz. You said

"VGcharts is not the basis of this list, but I did compare."

That there, is what we reacted on (apart from the fact that you in the article gave to mention to VGC). You have the exact same numbers as VGChartz do, just rounded. That gives some serious doubt to you having some other information from NPD or Chart Track.

You're good at squeeling yourself away when you messed up, but admitting it would have been much better.

You can believe what you want. After looking at VGChartz's numbers, it would have been a lot simpler and faster to just use that to begin with, but I was trying to find more current information from more "official" sources like NPD. I've said several times now that I did look at VGChartz, so I'm not sure why you guys feel like you are busting me on something that I freely admit to using. After doing all this pointless research that nobody believes anyway, I will ONLY use VGChartz for the rest of my life.

And just FYI, Mr. Ladnis, there is information out there that is not made available to the general public. It's available to plenty of people, just apparently not you. I'm actually somewhat surprised that you would think otherwise.

No, you said "VGcharts is not the basis of this list, but I did compare."

That means that you are saying that you found the numbers from someplace else too, you didn't. Prove that you did, or stop claiming that you have some data that isn't available to anyone else.

Why are you acting like rounding was some sort of exhaustive effort. All you did was truncate the numbers (except FIFA 09 for some odd reason). I don't see how that is any slower, unless you were going to literally copy and paste from vgc, but then you'd need to edit extraneous things out.

@Dan Ladnis

Well the numbers will always be higher than chart track+NPD because those only cover a handful of countries.

But yeah, that does pretty much prove that he just copied VGChartz numbers. Though I am relatively sure Motorstorm would be over 1 million not counting the bundles. It was really only extensively bundled in the US, and sold about 400k there before the bundles even started.

Anyways, I don't see why the author didn't just credit VGChartz, instead of claiming to use NPD/Chart-Track data. Or at the very least make it less blatant.

Dan Ladnis, I was only talking about bundled sales for MGS4 when I said they weren't counted, and I freely admitted that I used VGchartz. As I said before, if I was going to use VGchartz as my sole source of information, I would have just used their numbers instead of "rounding" and just given them credit. It sure would have been a lot faster.

Great name, by the way, but I think you copied it instead of coming up with your own, and your name is also less accurate.

Amazing how you while using various tools, and info from NPD and Chart Track managed to become LESS accurate than what you get from VGChartz, a free site, with public data, huh?

Oh come on! I think you should take some advice from yourself.

"So all these idiots pretending to be analysts need to just stop writing."

You know what's kinda awesome? You wrote this.

So I used the various tools and information from NPD and sites like Chart-Track to compile this list of PS3 games with worldwide sales over one million units, as accurate as I could make it with the latest information I had.

And yet, you were less accurate than what VGChartz is. Amazing huh? How you with various tools and info from NPD and Chart-Track, managed to be less accurate than what anyone can visit a free site, with no sign-up and find out, telling you where they find the numbers?

I think you should take some advice from yourself. As you wrote here: http://www.ripten.com/2008/11/15/littlebigplanet-sales-not-that-great-no-shit/

This is where you proved that you copied.

"The numbers I used did not take into account bundled sales, which some people could (and will) argue shouldn’t be counted."

Motorstorm has sold less than 1M not counting bundles, still you have the same number as VGChartz, which does track bundles. Your number is higher than what chart track + NPD would give you, as they don't count bundles.

VGchartz uses numbers sold to PEOPLE, that is why MGS4 is tracked at less than what Konami states, since Konami list numbers sold to STORES.

A sale to a store is not a real sale.

Learn the difference people and stop sounding ignorant. VGchartz is probably a little out, but not by a great amount.

Also, no, the numbers cannot be edited by anyone like wiki, that is just completely false.

Everyone has to admit that the PS3 is a great piece of hardware. IMO, I think Sony was planning more toward the future with the PS3 and letting the 360 pretty much have it until then.

About N4G, what is there to say about it that hasn't been said? Want more proof go read stuff on there and compare it to Wikipedia.

Yes, I know what Konami's press release has said, but the numbers I am using do not include bundled copies.

And GameOn, I also had quite the laugh at the mention of N4G. Do people not realize that N4G has no opinion and no facts, that all of their articles are from other websites? How could you say you trust a site that has no voice of its own to trust? The only thing N4G has is a community of a few intelligent people drowning in a sea of douchebag fanboys. It's a good source for finding gaming-related stuff from around the web, but the site itself has little content of its own to be labeled credible.

Any fact is as bias as any opinion. How? Once the facts are stated, it's left to your judgment to choose whether to accept or reject them.

In other words, Dan's references are only opinionated and/or lack validity because YOU choose to reject them.

Hm, Dan, I bet that numbers are taken from vgcharts.com
I dont believe that it is a reliable sourse of information.
For instance, recently I knotice a huge underestimation of MGS at vgcharts.com
According to Konami financial (and audited - that means that the numbers were checked and approved by third parties) report MGS were sold 4.3 million copies.
So there is some lil difference between ... hehe ... approx 1 million copies...
According to this other numbers may represent only approximate quatities of copies sold ... plus/minus million pieces =)))

"N4G is credible as well."

Man, I needed a good laugh today. N4G is about as credible as a sober crackhead at a drug convention, or err something like that.

N4G is a joke of a site overrun with some of the biggest douchebags in gaming.

Anyway, not a bad list, not a very impressive list either but good considering.

Paul. Could you please read all posts before reading the first two and making absolute assumptions?

That would be just perfect, Thanks.

That's not true -- some of them are rounded up.

But seriously, I did compare the numbers I had with VGchartz, and I said that in my first comment. If I was just going to rip the numbers from VGchartz, I wouldn't have rounded at all and I would have just given them credit. Why would I name-drop Chart-Track and not VGchartz? As a blog site, most of our information is based off other websites -- we just put our own flavor on it. This is no different.
