Comments on: Xbox 360’s Million-Sellers

Wow that is twice the amount of Million sellers than the PS3 but I do notice that most of them are games that are either exclusives or were only on the 360 console as a next gen console because the PS3 wasn’t available yet.

Knowing the Public they only bought them on the 360 because that was the only next-gen console available at the time & we all know how a lot of people are Graphic Whores, so of course they would buy it on the 360, but if the PS3 had been out at the same time I bet it would be much more even in the numbers sold and million sellers sold.

Brett Walton, the owner of vgcrapz, sent an email to npd that managed to find its way into the hands of the likes of gamasutra that clearly stated that he does not work with retailers and that he compiles his lists by using sites like walmart.com and amazon.com. Don’t believe me? Look up the gamasutra article that blasts vgcrapz and look at the reader responses below. In those postings are several comments, with two that grabbed my attention, claiming to be copy from Brett Walton to npd. When contacted, and after a few chuckles, NPD verified that they had received the email from Brett. So his methodology, like his entire site, is one big lie. Just because it’s posted on the web doesn’t make it fact. That’s what annoys me about so many of you puppets. You believe anything you read on the web. sad.

@Nick, find for me where else he got this list, as it does not conform to the NPDs list of million sellers! and further more VGchartz methodology is posted and free to read, and the website does not use walmart.com or amazon or is that to hard to believe, it is clear im not going to change any minds, but at least look up your info before post drivel

It would appear that the author beat vgcrapz at its own game. That is, using charts (that actually aren’t even vgcrapz’s own numbers to begin with) and not giving credit where, according to goddog, credit is due. ROFL. Ahhh, sweet, sweet irony.

Keep up the great work ripten. I love your site but keep vgcrapz away. By doing so, you will be a lot better off and considered far more reputable.

Hate to rain on your parade buddy but that sorry excuse for a website does not deserve any credit for anything. These debates have been going on for awhile now and not once has that site been able to defend itself. It has no industry support and in fact the thief that runs the site admitted in an email that has made its rounds on the web that he does not work with retailers and that he gets his information from sites like amazon and walmart.com then calibrates based on publicly available information ranging from ndp numbers to shipment press releases. If that isnt theft I dont know what is.

@dolrean, when the numbers were adjusted to reflect manufactures shipments, no top of that, there are several markers saying software figures are largely incomplete. the numbers are compared to NPD, and other numbers, but adjustments are not made in reflection of these figures. people on the boards howl to try and get numbers adjusted to which ever shows their console doing better.

the fact here is this list is a rounded copy of vgc list, i had come here to compare the numbers to vgc numbers, to see how others sites were listing million sellers, it would make a good debate on a games sales, say if vgc had one higher on its list then on this site. but it dose not.

vgchartz trolls should stay away. it is funny, imo, how goddog whines about vghcartz not being given the proper kudos when vgchartz is known for using data sources like Mediacreate and Chartttrack but not giving them credit. The last time I heard about vgchartz was when it was blasted for adjusting its numbers to reflect sales from the real trackers. What a sad joke that site is.

Whoa, WTF, talk about lopsided lists.
I don’t see how anyone can mention PS3 in the same conversation with 360 when it comes to gaming machines.

360 is about GAMES, PS3 is a bluray player/seller.
Say what you will about MS but they have carried gaming this gen, if we had to depend on Sony and Nintendo alone, gaming would be on the brink of going under, only first parties would be surviving.

@AMC i would have had no problem if in the article he gave credit to vgchartz, after posting, I saw in comments on the ps3 list he gives them credit, but not crediting them in the article is pretty bad for any journalist using a source…

so really not paranoid, just anger i guess? disappointment?

when i saw the article, i thought i could compare it to VGC to see how well they might be doing.

Oooohhhhhhh, so VGchartz is the website I supposedly hate. I didn’t know that. Contrary to your beliefs, VGchartz had 100% nothing to do with my LBP article, especially not the forum which, quite honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at once in my life.

As I said on the PS3 list, I did compare numbers with VGchartz, but they were not the basis of this article. I freely admit to using VGchartz, so I’m not sure what you are trying to prove.

I’ve bought all the games on this list (minus the football/soccer/wrestling/Simpsons games). Sony and Nintendo can’t contend with that Microsoft software attach rate. You should publish a Wii list. I’d guess maybe six million sellers:
Galaxy, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, SSB BRAWL, Mario Kart, and Rock Band * just my guess.

That’s right, John. I used Master Chief because Halo was at the top of the list and it’s exclusive and iconic for Xbox. The first PlayStation exclusive on the list was Motorstorm, but I didn’t want to make a picture of a talking car, so I went with MGS4.

StephenPioneer, I did see a press release stating that Ninja Gaiden 2 sold a million copies, but I didn’t see evidence of that anywhere other than that press release. Kameo is just under a million, and Condemned and The Darkness are still a few hundred thousand short.
