Call of Duty: World at War Third-Fastest Selling Videogame In The UK

by Sam Naylor on November 18, 2008 at 8:38 am

CVG reports that Call of Duty: World at War, Activision’s latest addition to the CoD franchise, is the third-fastest selling videogame in the UK, falling just behind GTA: San Andreas and GTA IV in terms of sales speed. Perhaps the prestige of Call of Duty 4 and the legacy it left have helped this along, but if you ask me, it’s because it features dogs that can kill you. Killer dogs will always be cool.

Lich King and Gears 2 are of course high in the charts this week, but poor LittleBigPlanet didn’t even make the top ten. Even more surprisingly, Wii Music debuted at number 16. Is Nintendo’s fad running dry? I suppose that remains to be seen. Either way, Activision are laughing this week, with Call of Duty: World at War and Guitar Hero: World Tour both selling huge numbers.

Here’s the UK chart this week:

1. Call of Duty: World at War
2. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
3. Football Manager 2009
4. Gears of War 2
5. FIFA 09
6. Guitar Hero: World Tour
7. Professor Layton and the Curious Village
8. Mario Kart Wii
9. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
10. WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009

Everyone has to admit to how gay this game is. Silencers on WWII weapons? Its just not the same.

Yeah I agree, I like the 4th one and the other CoD’s but this one….Come on, zombies?? I preferred the realistic take on the games series.
