We don't put the watermark on pictures to claim ownership of them, we do it so people don't hot-link our images on their site. I don't mind if anyone downloads this picture and takes the watermark off, but if someone just links our image on their site, they will be advertising that they got it from us because it has our watermark on it. We only do it so people don't chomp our bandwidth with image linking, and if they do, we look at is as them advertising for us. It's win-win.
