Gran Turismo 5 in time for Christmas 2009?

by Sam Naylor on November 30, 2008 at 7:52 am

GTPlanet report that Sony’s chief executive in Southern Europe, James Armstrong, has stated that the release of Gran Turismo 5, the latest installment of the acclaimed series, is set for Christmas ‘09. In a statement to Spainish newspaper El Financiero, Armstrong said that he is in the process of developing “the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas [2009].” He also mentions a new “thriller” game, adding “the player may be designing their own history.” A little early to speculate on that, perhaps.

Either way, it looks like Gran Turismo 5 is set for next winter, in time for the Christmas rush. Makes sense; it is one of the PlayStation’s bigger franchises, after all. The prestige around the series means that GT5 is certain to be highly realistic and a treat for fans of the series, so whenever it comes out, I’m sure plenty of people will be happy. Any thoughts? Will you be buying the game on release? Let us know in the comments.

Gran Turismo is one of the best racing game franchises of all time. I enjoy the cross between car customizer and racing. I recommend buying this game.

I assume you have GT5: Prologue? That’s basically a demo and it’s awesome.

    Uh…a newspaper from my place?

LMAO[Mr.Naylor],your snow is cuasivolumetric and runs @60fps,by the way,do you know if [Mr.Kazunori Yamauchi]`s promise about damage in cars is still standing?
I’ll buy this day one anyway though.

(!)So Sony’s chief executive in Southern Europe is James Armstrong, I thought he retired after PS2,poor David Reeves,I believed he was responsible for all absurd troubles we have here with the brand and the tech service.Oh well,I’ll hate them both and call it a day.

No word, Abaddon. Here’s hoping that there is damage- the thing that people have been asking for forever.
