Rare “may do” a new Killer Instinct Game

In an interview with Eurogamer, Rare studio head Mark Betteridge said that they were still thinking of making a new Killer Instinct game, but that the idea would only happen with some sort of market “revolution”.

“Killer Instinct is an IP that is fondly remembered and we may do something with it,” Betteridge admitted, “but it’s a tricky market to be like the old Killer Instinct. Once a market gets like that then it needs a revolution to bring something new to it and to kick-start a new growth,” he said.

Back in the mid-90s, in an era in which the fighting game genre was dominated by the Street Fighters and Mortal Kombats, Killer Instinct was a surprisingly fun and great game, and one of my faves on the Super Nintendo.

Let’s hope Rare does do something new with the Killer Instinct IP, but they best make sure they stick with the same formula and not to stray too far from the game’s roots.

Totally agree with Mr.Betteridge, besides, under my POV,Mortal Kombat is suffering from identity crysis,I don’t think that Tobias & Boon understood what’s missing. They rely too much solely on names,on nostalgia,on caché.I hope Killer Instinct doesn’t.

Both MK & KI were very innovative games, but fact is, Without offering something revolutionary ,the game will be soulless and dull and the franchise will be even more deteriorated;not reinvigorated.
Like Certain Crossover I don’t want to bash further.

What? Really? They “may do” a new one? All you’ve been doing lately is taunting us about this and now we find out you might, maybe, possibly make another one?

    Fuck you rare.

P.S. I still love Nuts & Bolts… but fuck you guys.

Sometimes video game companies are soooo stupid. Remake Final Fantasy 7? Naw, we don't want to make a billion dollars. Here have another Nintendo DS rpg no one even wants to play. Killer Instinct needs a revolution? Ummm…. isn't online play sort of the next evolution of fighting games? Duh…
