GTA4 Wins VGA Game of the Year

Live at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards, the winner for best game of the year was just announced. The title for 2008 now belongs to Grand Theft Auto IV. Among the nominees, GTA4 also won Best Action/Adventure Game, Gears of War 2 won Best Shooter, Metal Gear Solid 4 won Best Graphics and Best Original Score, Media Molecule won Studio of the Year, and Fallout 3 won Best RPG.
Great job, SpikeTV. You have firmly secured your status of being full of shit by selecting GTA4 over any of the other nominees. Even though I expected this from you, I held a small candle of hope that you would pick a game that actually deserved it. I demand a recount!

All of those games deserve GOTY more than GTA4! Cookigaki does not approve! Spike licks balls but not in a good way! The next dump Cookigaki takes is going to be named Spike TV!

funny thing ,, we played this gta 5 years ago ,, nothing new in the franchise yet its goty ,,
they belive its more perfect than gears of war 2 or metal gear solid 4 ,, i say

They fixed EVERYTHING that was wrong with the past GTAs and included multi-player!
Until you spend years in the business, and then spend four years crating a game, you can just shut your mouth up…mmkay?

GTA 4!!! GOTY!!!! DONT THINK SO!!!
I traded that in months ago for saints row 2 and sainys is a much better game.
Peice of advice rockstar – GTA is meant to be FUN so please next time go bac to wat made GTA great in the begining – FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Metal Gear Solid 4 had better production values, better story, and the only reason it didnt won GOTY is because its a game made in JApan.

I think Fable 2 should of at the very least got a award. It has much improved over the orignal. athough I dont think it deserves game of the year for some of the glitches in it. GTA4 is the same old shit everytime. I think that they made a big ass mistake. I will not be buyin the Lost and the Damned Expansion for GTA4, it doesnt look that great.

What the hell is this crap you guys are saying, honestly. GTAIV was a great game all around, and that’s what they were looking for in GotY. GTAIV literally blew the charts in the gaming industry. It has a huge fan base, the game engine was revolutionary and they’re still adding new stuff to it, and it literally blew the charts in sales.
GTAIV sold nearly 3.5 million copies in general, while GoW2 sold about 3 million. GTAIV had and aspect in the game that a lot of other current video games don’t have, and that is the story. Definitely the best story for a video game currently in business.
So I don’t know about you guys, but I believe GTAIV deserves the GotY award over all the other games. Besides, if you’re complaining about GTAIV being the same game again, you should start complaining how GoW2, MGS4, Fallout 3, and all the other nominees are still the exact same game as before (Which is why they’re fucking sequels).

I’m fed up with the video game industry. It’s all a bunch of bullshit. The VGAs were like just one extended GameStop commercial. As of this moment, I’m done playing video games and going back to Pen and Paper RPGs and table top war games and that sort of shit. I’m getting back to my nerd heritage. At least that way I don’t have to put up with “cool” people with expensive haircuts and rugged good looks ruining it for us true nerds.

Turtle, calling Fallout 3 the “same exact game because it’s a sequel” just nullified your entire argument. Not to mention that LittleBigPlanet was not a sequel at all…
Also, if you want to talk about sales, GTA4 actually sold over 10 million across all platforms, but we all know sales do not equal greatness. If so, Wii Fit would be game of the year.
