XBLA Wednesday: Merv Griffin’s Crosswords

by Rangebar Merani on December 31, 2008 at 10:55 am

The final Xbox Live Arcade game of 2008 is available today, and all you crossword puzzle and game show fanatics are gonna love it. Today you can pick up Merv Griffin’s Crosswords for only 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Based off of the television game show created by Merv Griffin, the game pits players against each other in a quiz-show format with fast-paced game show action and over 1000 crossword puzzles to solve.

For those of you who don’t know who Merv Griffin is, he’s the now-deceased Emmy-winning creator of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, as well as a singer and talk-show host.

For only ten bucks, and with 1000 puzzles and 2-5 online multiplayer support, Merv Griffin’s Crosswords is not a bad buy, but for the last XBLA game of 2008 I think many of us expected more than this.

This is Merv Griffin’s game, so who’s that douche on the cover?

I tried the demo the other day. I selected the “video game” catagory. Less than half of the clues/answers were remotely related to video games. I deleted the demo.
