Team Fortress 2 getting “very different” game mode, new class

by Sam Naylor on January 21, 2009 at 9:10 am

The Escapist and Valve developer Robin Walker have, in an article about my all-time favourite game, Team Fortress 2, noted that “A new Payload map is in the works, more community maps are on the way and the team will soon unveil a very different new game mode.” Very different, eh? Sounds good to me. Not content with that, Walker also stated that “We’ve got several new class designs floating around, some of which we like a lot, but right now we’re focusing on the broadening of our existing classes through the addition of the unlockables.”

The next update to the game will be that of the Scout, and most, if not all, of the current content added to the PC version of the game will be made available on Xbox Live for those with the sadly inferior version of the game. The new content is expected to be out “early this year,” so expect it to come out late this year. Oh, and if you don’t own TF2, you’re only hurting yourself.

The computer version is ace, but I’m stuck with the 360’s until my friend can be bothered to finish the Half Life 2s. Actually I’ll probaly find my copy on eBay or something. I’m lookin forward to the live update then :)

I suggest you get it on Steam. Sometimes they cut the price down to just a few dollars, so if you’re prepared to wait, I’d go with that.

I had steam for a while but got a new laptop’n'all then lost the disks to a friend who doesn’t like giving things back and keep forgetting to install. Someday I shall run around blowing shit up with a mouse and keyboard. Hopefully soon D:

You download the steam client interface. Never seen it on a disk before?!?

Good news about the updates, even tho I dont play scout too often (soldier at heart… MAGGOTS!!) :)

I’d love to see pl_dbheights as one of the community map in the next update, like they did with cp_steel last time.
