FF7 Version PS3 “Cloud Black”

All you readers mark your calendars because this is the PS3 you will more than likely want to import. The “Cloud Black”, as they are calling it, is being released to the world (okay, just Japan). Even with a just a small amount of design change, it is beautiful.

The system will be released at the same time as the Blu-Ray version of Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Complete, both coming to stores April 16th. This is a smart marketing move by Square-Enix promoting both a PS3 model to play that wonderful new Blu-Ray disc, and not only that but something called the Final Fantasy XIII Trial Set.

Famitsu doesn’t seem to have much info on the FFXIII stuff, but the Blu-Ray will sell for about 5000 yen or $50 U.S., and the PS3 (which is a 160gb version) will go for around 50,000 yen or $500 U.S.

All they seemed to do was slap an image of the ring that Cloud wears which is also on his chest. The only problem I have with these decoration PS3′s is that all the images are on the top of the machine, and you never really get to see them but I guess it’s nice to have the bragging rights.

so disappointing, japan always gets the cool ps3s. i was gonna wait for a price drop, but if that was released here right now, i’d buy it with my next check. dont toy with our emotions like that and say ‘just japan’! lol.

Just Japan, for now… hows that for teasing.

It looks cool but it’s still a PS3. It will still have a lackluster online service and a small variety of good exclusives but, yeah, it’s pretty.

And you can only enjoy it if the PS3 is sitting like that, and no one I know that has a ps3 sets it like that.

I've been wondering if there's a downside to importing this….will the ps3 still play US released games? Does Blu-ray have region coding? I don't know much about this stuff but I remember the original PS had to be modded to play jp games….or the disk swap trick.

PS3 blu-ray region code is the same for US and Japan/asia. Only Europe gets screwed in the region coding. The dvd region coding will be japan/asia, so US dvds are not suppose to work.
