Left 4 Dead getting new game mode, Versus maps, SDK

Left 4 Dead 411 reports that Valve have announced a host of new content for Left 4 Dead. The new game mode is entitled “Survivor” mode, but alas, no details other than that at this point. From the name I’d guess some sort of “last man standing” type mode- although I could well be wrong. The versus maps aren’t detailed in the announcement, but it’s likely to be the Death Toll and Dear Air campaigns; still great news since only two maps are available in versus at the moment. PC users will get the treat of the SDK toolkit for Left 4 Dead- meaning user-created maps and content for the game. If Valve’s other games are anything to go by (and they are), this will extend the life of the game even more.
The content is said to hit in the Spring- if my Valve clock is accurate, that means we’ll see it released in 2015. I’m allowed to rag on Valve because I buy everything they release. The content is most likely going to be free for both platforms, but there is no word on it yet. If it costs money on the PC, expect a huge backlash.
