Debut Trailer for Black Rock Studios’s Split/Second

by Demi Adejuyigbe on March 7, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Before you read ANY part of this post, I want you to watch the trailer above. Just watch it. Trust me. As a matter of fact, I’m going to hide the rest of this blog after the jump so that you’re forced to watch it. When you’re done, click to read more after the jump. (If your brain hasn’t completely overloaded, that is.)

Are you done? Good. The adrenaline-rushing video you just saw above wasn’t just some clip of an egregious B-class action film starring Vin Diesel, it was the trailer for Black Rock Studio (the guys that made PURE) and Disney Interactive’s Split/Second that appeared on GameTrailersTV. It looks fantastic, in my opinion, and it seems to be taking on the Burnout franchise with its fast cars beautiful city scape, and destructive environment. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be a serious Burnout contender, but the question of whether or not its ‘televised event’ theme and player-controlled destruction will be the demise of the Burnout series is a questionable idea.

We can only hope that the trailer wasn’t pre-rendered, and even if it was, that the game plays in a similar fashion when it comes to the PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in the future. If you’re up for a challenge, you can try watching the full HD trailer over at GameTrailers without having your head explode.
