Download Digital Comic Books on your PS3?

by Chad Lakkis on March 21, 2009 at 12:18 pm

According to a translated post on gaming site Polygamia, a PlayStation user submitted a screen grab of a survey he/she was presented with asking them if they would be interested in the idea of downloading comics, graphic novels, and manga via a fee based digital system on their Sony PlayStation 3 console.

Proposed fees ranged from $4.99 to $9.99 for manga, $5.99 to $19.99 for graphic novels, and $.99 to $2.99 for comics with a reduced bulk rate for a comic subscription in the ballpark of $4.99 to $12.99.

Sony is apparently at the point where they are considering a name for the service, as the article highlights several suggested options made available in the survey as well. Have a glance at them after the jump and let us know which one (if any) you like.

As a kid, I read and collected comic books, many of which I still have stored away today. While reading them was a part of the fun, I also believe that the act of collecting them was a large part as well. So, if the option was presented to me 10-15 years ago to download them for a fee I would have had to pass. Going to the comic book store with friends to pick up the latest issues of whatever it was we were all reading was a big part of the experience, and I’m not sure that everything needs to be digitalized.
