Rockstar announces Max Payne 3

Rockstar have announced today that the third instalment of their bullet-time third-person action game series will be arriving during “Winter 2009″. The game “tells the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence,” Rockstar says. Max Payne 3 will include “hyper-intense action” (“that fans have come to love”), and will move the story in a “new direction.”

Rockstar also notes that Max is “a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation.” The game is set for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and may or may not be a good game. You never know with Rockstar.
