Fallout 3 mod proves that the apocalypse wasn’t as bad as we thought
by Sam Naylor on April 10, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Tired of the constant grey wastes in Fallout 3? Convinced that nuclear fallout wouldn’t be all bad? Maybe this mod is for you. It turns all the shrubbery in the game green, essentially removing the harshness of the climate and making the wasteland into a lush, liveable landscape. Really takes the edge off of surviving in a post-apocalyptic nightmare. Remember, you’ll only be able to use this mod on the PC version of the game.

Far north, in the middle (ish) of the northern edge, surrounded by mountains.

i wish Bethesda would release this for the XBOX LIVE version. I'd buy it, hands down.

@Jonathan: You didn't complete the game if you didn't do any of the side quests.
@ryan: Of course you know, Bethesda has nothing to do with this, it is a mod, and its absolutely FREE. –Only on the PC.

kinda seems like a bad joke in light of all the "fallout is just a reskinned oblivion" criticisms that went round last year. oh well. (and morrowind was way better than either of them! yeah, i know i'm hardly the first person to make that observation… but c'mon, morrowind was frickin' awesome! morrowind = best western rpg since the heydey of the ultima series. truly a phenomenal game.)

Y are talking about the oasis.. and yes it exists ;)

man i've been all up in there! looking for it. i don't like to go to the internets for this kinda stuff usually, but man, i've really been to the middle northern edge and i did not find it. is it near the big satelite com tower?

i did a good amount of the side quests, but i'm certaintly not a completist. By "complete" i meant i finished the game, beat the game, or in other words, completed the game's final mission.

back up that morrowind claim, homeboy. Why is it the best since ultima?

it's called the Oasis
on May 12, 2009 12:13 am
This is retarded, if you think this is cool you missed the point of Fallout.

If you think people are retarded for liking this, you've missed the point of the mod. You're also a bit of a twat.

Agreed, Fallout is supposed to be harsh post-nuke apocalypse terrain. I have no problem with adding extra small pockets of lushness, as with Oasis, but making the whole place green? That just detracts from the storyline of "Later son/daughter, I'm going to go purify the water for the DC area so people can drink and trees can grow."

I think it's a fun concept if you've had your fill of the game. But for those who've yet to finish it, no it wouldn't make sense.

It is Oasis, and it is up in the rocks in the far North about in the middle of the map. You have to look for the entrance on the west side of of the rocks though. There is a quest perk there called BarkSkin, but you have to make the right choice to get it; it pretty easy.
Cheers.
