Playable Joker Exclusivity Boosting Arkham Asylum PS3 Pre-Orders

by Dylan Duarte on April 26, 2009 at 11:44 pm

A few days ago I reported that the Joker would have his own playable challenge missions in the PlayStation 3 version of Arkham Asylum. It should come as no surprise that the Joker is very, very popular; apparently popular enough to give the PS3 version of the game a dramatic lead in pre-orders.

On the Amazon.com bestselling games list, the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum rests at #192 while the Xbox 360 version is all the way down at #632. That’s a whopping 440 spots, for the math impaired, such as myself. Seriously, I whipped out calculator for that shit.

I mentioned before that I still plan on getting the Xbox 360 version, but it looks like many of you have been swayed by Batman’s nemesis. For shame, all of you. Good always triumphs over evil.

Or maybe people just want the PS3 version because 360 gamers aren't just that interested. Did'nt Tomb Raider sell more on the PS3 even though the 360 version had exclusive DLC? GTA4 also came close for a game that has 2 exclusive DLC.

I'm starting to notice a trend.

    You are forgetting 2 things:
    1) Numbers are dynamic and change on a daily basis.
    2) #192 and #632 are definitely not top sellers on both consoles, so the actual number might be pretty low (hundreds of units or a couple of thousands)
    3) There's also the Collectors editions. And guess what: The X360 collectors edition is actually selling better then the regular edition. On the PS3 it's the other way round (PS3 version currently still ranks higher, but the difference is not that big).

Perhaps it's not such a good idea to rely on not so credible sources like PSXExtreme.

You listed 3 'guy' and yeah I do realize the dynamics change on a daily basis. To be honest I could care which version sells better, be it the PS3 or the Xbox 360, special edition or regular. It's of no benefit to me what so ever. I'm getting the game for the console I play the most regardless of whci version sells better.

is it perhaps that 360 users returned their preorders instead of ps3 owners buying more?

Can't wait for the PS3 version!

    I think it's entirely possible that I don't care.
