Rumor: Call of Duty 7 Set During Vietnam War

Call of Duty isn’t going to stop any time soon. There’s been a new entry in the franchise released every year since 2005 and the last two are still fighting for the top spot on Xbox Live. Modern Warfare 2, the sixth installment, is set to hit later this year. So it comes as no surprise that Treyarch is already thinking about the seventh installment and where it should take place.
Rumor has it that Activision is looking to license music for “Call of Duty 7″ along the lines of Vietnam War-era tunes. Also mentioned was Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music.
The “Vietnam War-era” seems like a major giveaway. It was a major conflict and one that isn’t touched too often by videogames, possibly due to its controversial nature. If the game does take this route, I’m going to shout “Charlies up in the trees!” so often that nobody will want to play with me.
