Modern Warfare 2 Level Leak Features Some Questionable Content

csi-face-rec

Before I begin: Spoilers.

I tried not to put anything in the title to spoil anything for anyone who wants to pop their MW2 cherry on their own Xbox, PS3, or PC. Don’t read on if you’re in this category. This appears to be footage of a level in the game that has the player take control of a terrorist and massacre civilians in an airport. Not hostile ones, either- they seem very helpless.

This will obviously cause a lot of outcry about the game, probably even from the mainstream media. However, this is completely without context at the moment, and I urge you not to get up in arms about it. Done correctly this could be an excellent statement about terrorism (or something along those lines; like I said, we’ve no context at this point). Being offended by something like this without knowing fully what it is about is for Fox news, not for gamers. There is a fine line, however- if it goes wrong and the context and statement isn’t clear enough, this could be a disaster. Obviously, the game will get huge amounts of press either way, and will sell a billion zillion copies.

Of course, all reputable informed journalism comes from CNN…

Be prepared for a response far greater than the usual bags who jump on any game with guns.

It’s not exactly a tough sell to get someone to stand up against a game that involves the slaughter of innocent civilians in a public setting.

Even if its supposed to make you hate terrorists…that can be done with a film or some other means.

Having kids (the M rating is a total joke, any kid can get a game with a little enginuenty) shoot innocent people is a terrible idea as it relates to any marketing. If the mainstream media gets a hold of this, get ready…

Its not if the mainstream media gets a hold of this, its when. be prepared for the biggest crackdown on mature games in recent history. its not that this game is more graphic than say GTA, it just is more popular, and will bring more attention

man the guy who posted this allowing himself to be seen, i swear if activision gets a hold of him there either going to make him really poor or in a whole world of hurt. most likely both. and as far as this footage goes, i agree the media will tear this to shreds. i was actually very disturbed by this myself and it gave me chills.i think thats exactly what infinity ward was aiming for with this segment of the story. its very emotional and scary. i mean most of us who play these games probably dont think much about killing. i even went into watching this thinking i wouldnt be as shocked as everyone else but seeing innocent people…damn, just that opening is scary. dont get me wrong i have high hopes for this game and i even went so far as to pre order the prestige edition. i can understand what infinity ward is going for and i commend them for that. its just going to be sad because if people dont realize what IW is trying to invoke, the media will destroy this and i think we can all agree we dont want to have to return are MW2’s becuase a national recall was put out

I agree that out of context this makes absolutely no sense. I also watched this thinking that it wouldn’t be to bad, but when that elevator door opened, my heart stopped for a minute there. Like i said, its easy for things to get taken out of context, but lets hope they thought this one through if it is indeed from MW2. The fact that the guy allows himself to be seen and apparently has a copy of this in his apartment seems somewhat sketchy to me.
