German Modern Warfare 2 Will Be Censored

Video game censorship in Germany is as common as… well, Common, so it’s no surprise that the controversial airport scene from Modern Warfare 2 will be altered for the German audience. While I have no doubt that Germans can handle it (at least as well as the rest of the world can) the German version of the game will allow you to play out the airport level, but treat you to a game over if you shoot any civilians.
While I’m glad that they didn’t remove the level entirely, I think it’s not fair to limit a game based on assumptions of how the consumers will take it. Infinity Ward has said that gamers will be given the option to play the level or not, so automatically deciding that all of Germany can’t make the choice is more offensive than the level itself.
Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do you guys think? Any German readers upset about this, or are you okay with it?
Thanks Destructoid
