Criterion-Developed Need For Speed Coming 2010
by Demi Adejuyigbe on November 9, 2009 at 10:04 pmUnclever wordplay aside, classic film distributor Criterion won’t be working on a Need For Speed any time soon. No, the Criterion here is the developer of the Burnout series, and while their only departure from Burnout has been met with generally favorable reviews, their latest departure has already piqued my interest, and it’s not anywhere near out yet.
Criterion announced that they would be developing a Need For Speed game to be released “in the future”, but during a conference call, EA Games label president Frank Gibeau suggested that Criterion’s NFS game would be released as early as next year. Rather surprising… to those that remembered this was even happening.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the NFS franchise, but I’ve always loved Burnout. I wonder what direction Criterion’s going to take this game in, and whether or not it will be more Burnout than NFS.
