Former BioWare Producer Daniel Roy, now traveling food connoisseur and founder of “The Backpack Foodie“, describes his time spent at BioWare between January 2008 and June 2009 on his LinkedIn profile as “Senior Producer for unreleased original IP”.
Was this title scrapped following nearly two years of work? After digging around a bit, I located Roy’s personal blog in an effort to see if he made any references to this title or his parting ways with BioWare. He did … sort of.
According to Roy, his leaving BioWare had nothing to do with his project being shelved or a layoff, but an urge to follow a different path in life.
“I crave the life on the road, the daily challenges of the unknown. The discoveries, and the human connection, far away from my normal life. I thought I could stave it off while I worked for BioWare, one of the best game companies in the world. I can’t.”
The good news here is two fold. One, an individual had the balls to up and leave a great job to do something they felt more passionate about, and two, this type of exit means that a finished project could be waiting in the wings for eventual announcement.
Could this be one of the ten unannounced games slated to be revealed at this years7th annual Video Game Awards on Spike TV? Host Geoff Keighley could tell you for sure. Good luck getting him to spill the beans.
