I took the photo above when I was at Best Buy a few days ago. At the time, I wasn’t really sure what I may use it for, but the sheer fact that the price of Mirror’s Edge had dropped so low was shocking to me. To give you some perspective, you could pick up Mirror’s Edge for the same amount you’d pay to take home Sonic Unleashed. Alright, now for the real reason for this post.
Oscar Carlén, a Lighting Artist (hence the title) for EA’s DICE Studio, revealed in his online portfolio that one of his current 2009 projects is, you guessed it, Mirror’s Edge 2. He of course updated his portfolio and removed the bit about ME2 once Joystiq reported it, but that’s like driving away from the scene of an accident you caused after the whole thing was recorded on cellphone cameras and published to YouTube.
The real question here is whether or not the sequel is still being worked on. EA has laid off plenty of staff recently and it’s not like the original Mirror’s Edge flew off store shelves. Seriously, who thought it would be a good idea to make a game starring a hot girl that you never see unless you happen to stand next to a reflective surface? Maybe that’s why they named it Mirror’s Edge. You’ were really just meant to stand next to the edge of a mirror covered building and drool while you whack off.
I’m going to remain skeptical about this one until something more is announced. In the mean time, head on over and pick up the original Mirror’s Edge for less than it costs to feed a family of four at Burger King.
[Thanks Joystiq]
