Activision Reveals Details for True Crime
I wasn’t at all impressed with the 2009 VGA trailer for Activision’s True Crime. I somewhat enjoyed the previous two games in the series, but the voices, character rigidity, and somehow-superhuman movement in the trailer just didn’t impress me. A press release for the game just hit my inbox, and while I can’t say it changes my opinion of the game, it’s a bit more information than the trailer gave us.
The game is set in Hong Kong, with an open-world inspired by classic Hollywood & Asian cinema-style action thrillers. The trailer introduced us to Wei Shen, a detective that infiltrates the Triads in order to take them down, but the release describes the game with a little more action, portraying it as a crossover between Stranglehold & Yakuza.
In order to ascend the ranks of the underworld gamers will engage in visceral, fast-paced martial arts combat and explosive gunfights, along with high-octane driving sequences and acrobatic free-running chases as they go deeper and deeper undercover.
To tell you the truth, that doesn’t sound like anything we haven’t seen before in some form, but as always, I’ll give it a chance when it comes out in Fall 2010 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
